Cargo Bass Rules
1. Although this is not a sanctioned Bass Club, there are some minimal rules and guidelines to follow in the name of safety and organization.
2. It is required that members in the club be one of the following: (1) active or retired Military and Veterans, (2) active or retired DOD or NASA Civilian, or (3) active or retired DOD or NASA Contractor supporting Redstone Arsenal or Marshall Space Flight Center. This is only for new members!! Existing members are grandfathered in.
3. Every member will pay $35.00 for the year. This will cover the Classic for the end of year and all incidentals. $10 will go towards the incidentals and the other $25 will be your classic balance. Any money left over after the last tournament will be put into the classic pot for the tournament. Big Bass and Calcutta pots are strictly and completely voluntary and will be paid if interested at the ramp to whoever takes the initiative to host this event. They have no bearing on the tournament. Participation for the Classic requires fishing a minimum of five (5) Cargo events. We will not count any of the AAAA tournaments. You are encouraged to fish the AAAA as it is a great program and is for a needy cause. However, it will not count as a qualification tournament for the Cargo Bass.
4. Each paying member will receive two guest passes. These can be used to bring on another angler who is not associated with Cargo Bass. The guest will not have to pay the $35 membership fee, but will pay the $5 towards the classic pot for the tournament him or her fishes. Once that guest fishes two tournaments, he or she must pay the full $35 minus whatever they have paid towards the classic pot. This will help cover any instances that come up with your normal partner being unavailable to fish.
5. A child under the age of 10 may fish in the boat with two other members. Children 10 and over will be considered your partner if you choose to have them fish with you.
6. The weigh-in times will be at 1400 hours for every tournament unless there is an inclement weather call which will be the final decision of the Tournament Director or a designated tournament official for that tournament.
7. Launch time for all tournaments will be at “safe light” or 30 min prior to sun-up depending on the weather. Livewells may be checked before each tournament.
8. Prize money: See CARGO BASS prize and payout info tab on the webpage.
9. Dead fish presented will be weighed in the cargo bass tournaments but, there will be a penalty of 1 lb per fish and a limit of TWO dead fish. A DEAD FISH CANNOT BE WEIGHED AS THE BIG FISH!
10. All Cargo Bass tournaments will have a 5 fish weigh-in except for when there is an extreme heat wave and a danger of killing fish. This call will be determined by the Board Of Directors (BOD) or at a minimum, the tournament director. In which there will be a 3 fish limit because of the heat.
11. Boats will weigh in as a team or boat for each and every tournament including the Classic keeping the “Buddy System” alive.
12. The Tournament Director and the Safety Official/Classic Money Official will also act as the Board of Directors (BOD) for the CARGO BASS. They will act as a voting body for making inclement weather decisions etc. If the Tournament Director is not present for a tournament, the next person (safety official/ Money Official) will pick up the responsibilities for that tournament. This will ensure there is someone present to monitor the tournament and ensure names are recorded etc.
13. It is required that you send an email that you will be fishing the tournament by 12:00 the Wednesday of tournament week. We are going to launch by boat numbers if the total number of boats is over 10. This will be done by random draw, so we need to have a solid list of participants by noon Wednesday to complete this task. The BOD will draw the boat numbers out of a hat. The last boat out will be responsible to launch the others with the bull horn. We also stress that you make every effort to pre-pay for the tournament!! This is a great help to Tournament Director and the BOD.
14. All fishermen are responsible to read the rules and adhere to the Alabama Laws for legal creel size and limit for the lake being fished that day. Stay abreast as they change.
